Featuring Nichol Merritt
Nichol joined S&P Global Ratings in the Business Development group in December 2018. She is responsible for working with corporate and financial institutions throughout the Midwest region which have yet to be rated. Previously, Ms. Merritt worked for TIAA (now Nuveen) as an institutional investor in the private placement investment group where she directed teams underwriting corporate and private placement ABS transactions. Before joining the private placement group, she worked on the public investment team at TIAA where she underwrote consumer, equipment, timeshare and other esoteric ABS for both the general account as well as the total rate of return funds. Prior working at TIAA, Ms. Merritt worked as a sellside research analyst at Wachovia Securities (now Wells Fargo), Deutsche Bank, Barclays Capital, Bank of America and JP Morgan focusing on ABS, CDOs and Credit Derivatives. She has published extensively through her employers and in several Fabozzi fixed income guides under her maiden name Bakalar. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Michigan double majoring in Economics and Political Science.
